Production Project A

Out of the three options we could choose from for our first assessment item I have chosen to research a current affairs topic and construct a reference page around it. This page must give the "intelligent" reader a thorough background to the topic and provide links to other useful information.

At the moment I am stuck between choosing to research the current China/Tibet situation (a subject that is close to my heart) or the current global fuel crisis and its impact in Australia. Either way I will soon be posting up a link (under "cool links" at the bottom of this page) so you can all see the page.

The Unabombers manifesto

A great read if you think we are all going to hell in a handbasket if we (as human beings) continue to exploit each other, our natural resources and technology.

1. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in "advanced" countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering—even in "advanced" countries.
